Burt is from the Othole family of carvers from Zuni. His style is towards the traditional with arrowheads and bundle offerings. "Abstract and unique is also a characteric of my creations."
The offering is a symbol to the fetish for providing protection, good luck, peace and harmony for the beholder. The eagle is one of the directional fetishes and is the guardian of the upper region. He is know for vision, higher truths and a soaring spirit that transcends personal problems and is a connection to the Divine.
Crawstone is from Pliocene of Baja, Mexico and is cut from boulders found on the beaches. The stone is often referred to a Seafood Buffet because it often includes a variety of fossil clams, oysters, corals, gastropods and such.
