Stunning Craftsmanship
The Navajo artists we work with provide truly breathtaking Native American beaded bracelets, many of which are still handmade and carefully finished. The traditional silversmithing methods that many of our favorite artists employ have been developed since the late 19th century, when sterling silver bead-making came into being as a distinctly Navajo technique. Early handmade beads were usually large and spherical, and shapes and sizes varied as the Navajo continued to experiment with the technique. As more advanced tools and techniques were developed, new jewelry forms were introduced, until in the 1920s there were more and more silver beads that were made by machines. The machine-made silver beads lacked the seams that handmade beads have.
Our designs feature various shapes and styles of bead, as well as finer beads like those used in liquid silver bracelets. We also offer antiquated sterling silver hammered designs for a more traditional look.
Quality Materials
Our Native American beaded bracelets feature genuine sterling silver, the medium that Navajo silversmiths have mastered over the last century and a half. Sterling silver was introduced to the Navajo after it was brought over from Europe, where it was invented to provide currency, and then eventually cutlery and jewelry.
Several of our beaded bracelet designs also incorporate authentic gemstones like turquoise, lapis, spiny oyster shell, and gaspeite. We are particularly proud to be able to offer genuine turquoise, which is an important gemstone in Native American tradition. Due to high demand, turquoise has become increasingly rare in many parts of the world, and we are still able to source our turquoise from still-active Southwestern mines.
